My belief in whether God actually does something that matters in the world/my life is often proportional to the number of accumulated unanswered prayers, my own feeling of being ignored by God, spurned.  Especially when the prayers have been about something, someone that really mattered, and throbbing emptiness when it all went to shit, prayers or no prayers.</description>
